Today, Global Compact Network South Africa launched a new initiative to challenge and support participating companies of the UN Global Compact in setting ambitious corporate targets and accelerating the integration of the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) into core business management.
Applications are now open for the SDG Ambition programme, a six-month accelerator initiative that provides guidance, training sessions, peer networking opportunities, and hands-on support to help companies make bold decisions in applying the SDGs to their company’s business strategy, operations, and stakeholder engagement.
“There’s no doubt that 2020 has presented many obstacles to achieving the SDGs by 2030. The COVID-19 crisis has highlighted the broader vulnerabilities and challenges in our society and the global community, and we must take ambitious action now to rebuild in an inclusive and sustainable way” said, Dr Achieng Ojwang, Executive Director of the Global Compact Network South Africa.
Companies around the world have a unique window of opportunity to develop post-pandemic business strategies that fully integrate the SDGs and help to build more inclusive and sustainable societies. The SDG Ambition accelerator programme will enable companies to move beyond incremental progress on the SDGs and step-up to transformative change by unlocking business value, building resilience, and enabling long-term growth.
Registration for the programme is open to participating companies of the UN Global Compact and runs from 21 July 2020 through 30 September 2020. In addition to Global Compact Network South Africa, the SDG Ambition programme will be implemented by Global Compact Local Networks in participating countries around the world.
If your company is ready to raise SDG ambition in the Decade of Action, contact the Global Compact Network South Africa to apply now.
